The Challenge
Nestled within the historic charm of Washington, Connecticut, Gunn Memorial Library presented a unique challenge. Its grounds, adorned with mature plantings and extensive stonework, demanded a sensitive approach to any new construction. Tower Generator was tasked with installing a substantial backup power system, requiring the construction of a new retaining wall that seamlessly integrated with the existing landscape, appearing as if it had always been a part of the property. Adding to the complexity, the limited workspace necessitated careful coordination and even the temporary use of a neighboring lawn to gain adequate access to the rear of the library for generator placement.
The Solution
Tower Generator engineered a comprehensive solution for Gunn Memorial Library, centered around the installation of a robust 80kW generator paired with a 72-hour fuel tank, ensuring extended operation during power outages. This involved meticulous site preparation, including the construction of a visually harmonious retaining wall and careful grading to build up the installation area, all while navigating a confined working space. The team skillfully managed the trenching and installation of conduits, as well as the precise pouring of the generator pad. Demonstrating exceptional logistical planning, the generator and fuel tank were expertly airlifted onto the property, followed by swift and secure placement and connection. As a result, Gunn Memorial Library now benefits from a reliable backup power system, providing invaluable peace of mind and ensuring uninterrupted service for years to come.
